<boatdescription>$15, 0 or best offer. Boat is on Clubfoot Creek off Neuse River. Basics:Year 1963 - Hull 62. Model Vanguard. Designer Phillip Rhodes. Length 32-9. Waterline 2-3. Beam 9-3. Draft 4-6. Displacement 12, 60 lbs. Mast from WL 42-9. Hull Speed 6.6 kts@27hp. General:Papillon, a four owner sailing vessel, wasinitally sailed on Lake Michigan and thenmoved to Wilmington, NC. I purchased itin 1974. This was a dream boat for me, havingresearched the perfect cruising boat fora couple or small family. The criteria thatI had was that it must be very seaworthy, easily single-handed, reasonable draft, full keel for stability and protection ofthe prop and rudder, reasonably fast andnimble. I raced Papillon for a number ofyears and accumulated many trophies. One of the advantages of racing is that the vessel must be maintained carefully forhigher winds and seas and every piece of equipment must be selected for durabilityand safety. These considerations carried over into the years when we cruised thewaterways of the East Coast of the US, the Chesapeake Bay. During the past 50years, I have always kept the boat in the best condition possible and have designedand incorporated many projects and systems to insure its best use and performance. Single reef in main, furledgenoa - 20 knots. The issue now is that I will turn 80 inthis year and am trying to simplify mylife. As much as I love sailing, I dontwant to have this boat, that I have taken care of for years, not being usedand loved as it should. So, I am looking for a new owner, one that will take advantage of allthe work that has been done overthe years and take her cruising orcontinue her adventures with themand their family. Engine, Cooling, Exhaust:Engine Yanmar GM30F Diesel New 190 - full servicing June 2024. Shaft 1 Stainless x 28.5 (upgraded from 7/8). Prop 13RH16 three blade cleaned/balanced 202 coated w/PropSpeed. Coupling Bullflex 021 Apr 2016 (eliminated any vibration). Seal Last Drop Seal Apr 2016 (eliminates tightening seal). Exhaust Yanmar Exhaust Loop Jun 2024. Muffler Vernalift 15026 Apr 2016 (very quiet operation). Alternator Powerline 23-107 120 amp Jul 206. Spare Alt Origninal new alternator included as a spareFuel 18gal Monel tank, Racor 50 Primary filter, Yanmar. Secondary:Interior-In 202, the interior was essentially removed and rebuilt with a new and more usefulconfiguration. The old folding table was replaced with a dinette that easily dropsdown to form a large berth. The upper berths were converted to shelving withdrawers or storage behind and under the berths. The sole was replaced with treated1 plywood and sheathed with ash and mahogany sealed with epoxy and finishedwith polyurethane floor varnish. The entire arrangement has proven to outperformeither of the two standard layouts available with the Vanguard. You get the advantage of the rear galley layout with the port side dinette! Bulkheads Wilson Art 10735-60 Limber Maple which replaced the oldand darker glossy laminate giving a much lighter interior. Flooring Ash and teak set in epoxy. Cushions Reconfigured and recovered with decorative and verydurable and water resistant fabric. Countertops Wilson Art 14757-60 Mistique Moonlight laminate. Trimwork Almost all trim was replaced with new teak. Care has been taken to design and have constructed a special dodger and biminithat minimized water intrusion in high winds and seas. The dodger has proven to bealmost waterproof with heavy spray coming over the bow. These systems are easilyremovable and storable in case of hurricanes or storms. The bimini can be retractedand the canvas and pieces can easily be stored below. In addition a special coverwas designed and constructed to cover the entire dodger and cockpit, protecting itfrom weather and sun. Other canvaswork included a mainsail cover, lifeline covers, a lee cloth, mosquito screening for openings and a cover for the tiller and a storagebag for the companionway hatch boards. Cockpit panels Storage package in Sunbrella. Anchors and Ground Tackle:Consideration was given for various bottom conditions and water depths that mightbe encountered if cruising. As such, anchors were chosen for general purpose, sand bottoms and rocks. In addition, a storm anchor has proven to hold in several hurricanes where we had to anchor out. A special bow pulpit was designed andconstructed to manage two anchors simultaneously and storage is divided belowdeck to allow separate rode-chain combinations to be stored. A manual windlass isinstalled to minimize use of power. In addition, a special anchor wash-down sytemswas designed and installed which has been exceptionally useful if anchoring inmuddy conditions. Working Anchors 35# claw, 35# CQR, 16 aluminum FortressHurricane Anchor 16# aluminum Fortress with 12 ft of 1/4 stainlesscable and fittings. Surveyor established fair market value as $30, 0 and considered fit and ready forintended use upon correction of Priority One recommendations (completed 2024). Significant Projects During Ownership Major Interior OverhallDuring the year 206, finding that the interior was becoming worn and was in needof a reconfiguration, I removed all the interior bulkhead covering, the sliding berths, folding table, pipe berth, and flooring. I replaced most of the teak with newly milledteak and replaced the flooring with 1 treated plywood and new teak and ash flooring set in epoxy. All the cushions were reconfigured and covered with a durable and decorative fabric. During this same period, I removed the entire electrical system and rewired it usingthe very best marine materials and methods. This included both the DC and the ACsystems. A main panel was installed as well as a sub-panel on the opposite side. This overhall included fabricating new boxes to handle the four house batteries andan inverter/charger to keep this system running and extend its life. Fill Void in Keel - 203. For some reason Pearson Vanguards were manufactured in a way that left a voidinside the keel. I discovered this reading a Vanguard group post and did some exploration. Sure enough, I found a hollow space that had filled with water. I drilled holes, drained it totally, dried it out and filled it with West Epoxy mixed with ahigh-density filler. This was systematically done so that it was completely filled. Reconfiguration of Cockpit - 203. The original Vanguard had four winches independently supported outside the cockpit combing. I removed all of the cockpit teak and redesigned this area to bothhandle all four winches but to also provide a very useful storage area on each sideas well as a sitting area when motoring. This has been one of the most appreciatedimprovements, one that is not found on any other Vanguards that I have seen. Deck Repair - 203. The Vanguard was constructed with deck that consists of an inner fiberglass layercovered by a 1/2 or so, balsa layer and then an additional layer of fiberglass. Overthe years with stress and walking on the deck, the balsa became detached in placesfrom the fiberglass allowing moisture to infiltrate and soften the balsa. This was discovered as the moisture heated and pushed its way to the surface. I carefully drilledholes in the upper layer of fiberglass and then removed the moist balsa, blew it outand dried it. Then the void was filled with West Epoxy and a lighweight structuralfiller. This was over about 75 percent of the deck and the cockpit sole. When complete, the deck was substantially stronger and waterproof. This was a gigantic project, one that will not ever have to be done again. Significant Projects - Continued. Slab Reefing-The original Vanguard had a boom that rotated to allow the main to furn around it. Very bad idea! Impossible with a fully battened mainsail! I replaced this with a slabreefing system that works with the mainsail batten design and allows quick reefing, sometimes called jiffy reefing. This also allows the main to stow nicely on theboom when it is covered with the mainsail cover. Rigging for Single Handing-All halyards were led back to the cockpit so that it is not necessary to leave the cockpit to drop sails. In addition, roller furling is led to the cockpit for easy adjustment. Winches were upsized and self-tailing feature was incorporated. The main sheet ismanaged via a traveler, not original to the Vanguard, so that it can be easily sheetedvia a four part block and tackle system with oversized line for handling comfort. Hull Barrier Coat - 2016-Had the boatyard sandblast the hull, allow to it to dry, filled it with epoxy filller, coatwith primer and bottom paint. Each year the hull is not only blasted to removeslime, it is sanded before being painted as if I were still racing the boat. Cockpit Cover - 202-Designed and had fabricated a heavy duty cockpit cover to prevent UV deteriorationof the varnish system and other components. This has been a great addition one notfound on any other Vanguards that I have seen. I wash and coat it with an additionalprotectorant each season. Emergency Lifeline System-U-clips at cockpit and bow on starboard and port to provide for attaching a safetyline (included) and harnesses (included) for use in attending to tasks on deck whilesailing short-handed or alone. A must for safety for adults or children at sea. Sales Price Calculation:Basic Vanguard if it were a project boat $10, 0 or moreYou will find these out there in bad shapeThe following items are those that would expect to be needed for a Vanguard or areimprovements beyond the norm. <boatdescription>This boat is like new. I purchased it new from Ranger. Health is forcing sale. Boat/Engine has less than 20 hours. Engine still in warranty. Exceptional smooth ride, dry riding. Very versatile, do all boat. Back seats are removable. Kept under cover in boat shed. Boat has had fresh water use only. Priced to sell. The VX18DC combines the best attributes of a rock-solid trolling, jigging and casting machine with all the features, storage and creature comforts you need for a day on the lake with family and friends. Aerated livewell/baitwells reside in both decks while the cockpit features driver and passenger Air Ride seats and two complementing, hand-stitched fold-downs. Underneath is non-skid flooring and inside the hull is a world of foam flotation to deliver the strongest, smoothest and most solid feel possible. Stability and smooth tracking are aided by centerline-mounted battery storage and fuel tanks. As with every Ranger aluminum model, the VX18WT is all-welded without a splinter of wood anywhere, and comes complete with a custom-matched tandem-axle Ranger Trail trailer for years of on-road peace of mind. Big-screen electronics available at console and bow. Fully featured for fishing and fun. Standard Ranger Trail trailer. Highly customizable interior with front deck extension. Jump seats in rear for maximum storage and seating options.</boatdescription>

<boatdescription>Have you ever noticed that boats manufactured before 1973 do not have boat pox or delamination. That was the year of the oil embargo. Prices for crude oil and all products produced from it skyrocket. Manufacturers shorted resins and the industry suffered delamination, water intrusion, and flaking of laminate. This continued well into the 20's. Even vacuum bagging had a steap. learning curve. The problems would not show up for years. This boat, manufactured in 1967 has no "boat pox" or soft spots. It has new main and jib. Corian galley, propane stove and heater, and self steering. Inventory-Main, jib are new bent on and never used. Old main and jib. Mizzen staysail, mizzen sail and asymmetrical spinnaker good condition. Aries Wind vane steering. New sink and stove. <boatdescription>The first owner was an PENN YAN distributor on Lake Erie. He used it at his summer home on Lake superior for two weeks a year. The second owner, who I purchased the boat from told me he purchased it around 2015. It has been well kept its entire life.I purchased a boat in 2021. I replaced both fuel tanks, fuel, lines, carburetor, and install an electric fuel pump. In 202 I replaced all the canvas. Top Canvas from windshield to transom. Eisen glass side windows in front and side, curtain and aft curtain with the screen and a roll up Flap to cover the screen. The cushions in the forward cabin were done at the same time. It has a tandem axle trailer that has been used very slightly. From what the last owner told me a trip from Ohio to New York is the longest trip ever took. In 2023 I put in The Garmin and hummingbird GPS in depth sounder. Every winter it has been stored in a closed building.</boatdescription>

I will accept any type of currency, cryptocurrency, gold, silver, jewelry, and I will trade for any four-wheel vehicle that I can sell easilyand whatever money will be paid for this boat will go to a charityI own called Anonymous Angel. That is a federally registered 501(c)(3). And I do have my solicitation license. I donated this boat to my charity so whoever buys it will get a fat tax write off.I do have all the receipts for all of the work done and all of the parts bought. 30 foot sail mast catamaran. Recently sent to Palmetto Bay marina and spent $35, 0 to have all of the Fiberglass redone and full paint job. It was brought to the condition of the new boat. Not a soft spot anywhere on it. Carbon fiber Racing sails about 3 1/2 years old. Ringing is all about 3 1/2 years old. New flooring, resembling teak on the upper deck and inside both sides. New toilet, new tankless water heater and shower, new water bladder and plumbing piping, New air conditioners on both sides, New flat screen TVs on both sides, new mattresses both sidesIt is fully electric. Has Four Torqeedo batteries and two Torqeedo pod drive motors in the center of each hull. Has folding brass propellers and the Torqeedo torq link system with gps. Went with the full Torqeedo System at the expense of $40, 0. New stereo system. Comes with a 350 W extremely quiet generator. Comes with all of the gear and anchors and emergency Beacon and everything you would need to take it to the islands today. Pretty much everything on the boat is new. Recently installed Dinghy davits from a Viking on the back. It also comes with a highly coveted spot at Shelter Cove Marina and Hilton Head island. The spot cost $60 a month and there is a long waiting list.</boatdescription>
